1

Thread chosen beads onto wire (5"/125mm).
2

Pass ends of wire through hole in bobbin, one in each direction.
3

Feed free end of wire through first three beads and bend end upwards.
4

Repeat on other side.
5

Hold bottom of bobbin with finger and thumb. Using pliers pull wire from each side to take up surplus wire until beads are close to bobbin.
6

To secure spangle, twist end of wire twice around wire between beads.
Repeat on other side.
7

Using wire cutters, cut off excess wire, close to beads, so that end is concealed.
Reshape spangle.
Spangling Wire
We always use stainless steel wire rather than the traditional brass wire. We find it much stronger and easier to handle. Brass wire can be very soft and frequently gets 'kinks' which are difficult to straighten out.
The main secret to successful spangling, we believe, is to have the wire straight to start with. Therefore, if you buy spangles where the wire is twisted to prevent the beads from escaping, it is very helpful to straighten the wire first before attempting to attach the spangle. We find that a pair of pliers are useful here.
We sell both brass and stainless steel wire, see our Electronic Brochure.
